Buxton Christian Bookshop faces Closure
After 27 years trading in the centre of the town, Buxton Christian Bookshop will cease to trade on Christmas Eve.
The shop, which sells new and second hand books, as well as greetings cards, music and Traidcraft items, has been run by two part-time staff and a team of volunteers. But the economic conditions have made it an increasing struggle to keep going.
The shop has a sale for its final days, with 10% off all items. They also held an open evening recently where people could meet those who over the years have faithfully served the shop. Despite the cold weather, a large number of people came to the evening.
Announcing the closure, their press release said, “The shop over the years has been a valued Christian witness to the town as well as to many visitors to Buxton. It is hoped that the New Year will bring a fresh vision for the continued work for a similar Christian out reach in Buxton.”
