Fresh Expression in city development

Methodists in Derby are reaching out into a new city development, with a Fresh Expression of Church.

The Derby Circuit has purchased two adjacent houses, one will be home to Deacon Jane Rice, who has a city centre ministry brief to her work. The other house will be used as what Jane describes as “a home of hospitality, prayer, table feast and group reflections that encourage the expression of faith and spirituality through the creative arts”.

The new venture has been named Susanna Wesley House, after the mother of John and Charles Wesley, founders of Methodism. It was officially opened by Chair of Nottingham and Derby District Revd Loraine Mellor and Derby Circuit Superintendent Revd Jenny Dyer on 22nd May as part of the district’s Prayerfest.
