Church is packed to say goodbye to much loved District Chair
Hundreds of Methodists from the Derby and Nottingham area
gathered to say goodbye to Wesley Blakey, who for the last ten years has been
the chairman of the Nottingham and Derby District of the Methodist Church.
The event at Chilwell Methodist Church, Beeston saw people
gather from Ashbourne to Grantham to worship together and give thanks for all
that has happened during his time in the area.
Friends spoke of many happy memories (and the odd embarrassing
one!). He and his wife Ann were presented with retirement gifts from the district,
and people queued to sign a book afterwards.
His successor, Rev'd Lorraine Mellor, will be welcomed to
the district at the end of the summer.
